    I almost regreted that last statement because VS is so damn
sensitive to color balance settings (e.g., neutral vs white balance,
and the sensitivity to manually changing the values) ... and then
thought I better check out the 'restore color' option.
    I believe my observation is close to yours, leastwise for color
balance ... but ^why^, given the same all other settings, would gamma
jump approximately 0.8 points for restore colors turned on???  (I
re-scanned an archived Q60 raw file).
