RE: filmscanners: Puzzled about display resolution

Well, Frank,
I cannot speak about the Mac since I have never owned or operated one. I am
not in any way attempting to refute what you say, since I am not
knowledgeable in engineering or programming issues; all I have attempted to
do is pass on the information I have been given over the years as to why
fonts and dialog boxes, menus and toolboxes, and pallets are fixed and
designed to be so.

A similar situation exists apparently with respect to the number of item
that can be listed in the Photoshop filters menu. It is finitely defined by
Adobe in such a manner that third parties cannot design applications to get
around that limitation even though there is nothing in the Windows OS that
restricts the number of items that can be put in any single dialog box or
menu.

I can't speak for the Macintosh, but under Windows this all happens
automatically. You have to go out of your way to stop it.
