No relation to the later Dimage models, and now 2 generations out of date. 
I wouldn't, personally. Later scanners have improved hugely in terms of colour 
accuracy and bit depth, noise and are mostly now useable within a 
colour-managed workflow. They are much easier to use, and far less frustrating.
