Jim , try this ....
try another time but this time DO NOT RE-START in Ordinary mode .... W98SE .
You start in SAFE MODE ! (hit F8 just after the SCSI firmware is loaded at
the time your BIOS is showing the configuration ... I don't know the brand
of your PC .... I am shooting in the dark).

In safe mode ... try to see if the LOG (corrupted) is still there .. and
copy it changing its name.

In the meanwhile I am thinking to some circumvention of the blxx@# Windoze
... uh !
