RE: filmscanners: HP 7400C flatbed + tranny option

Not with the 7400C, but if it's the same HP trans adapter that's sold for
the 6300C, then yes, I tried one before I bought a film scanner, in hopes
that the 1200dpi res would be adequate.

"Adequate" is the right word for perfectly exposed and developed slides. For
"problems," forget it. I'd guess that larger trannies (it will do an 8x10 if
I recall correctly) would have similar problems with density range and
possibly with edge definition (from the light source, which is built into
the adapter unit), but the larger format would be a mitigating factor AFA
resolution. I had no large format stuff to use it with, so returned the unit
a few days after I got it up and running.

Best regards--LRA

This scanner would appear to be a nice compliment to a dedicated
film scanner and a SCSI chain. However, HP has been known to offer
some pretty cheesy transparency options. Has anyone seen this one?
How does it work?
