filmscanners: Price War -- Nikon 8000 & Polaroid 120

I see that the latest PC Connection hard-copy mail-order catalog shows a
new, lower price of $2279 for the Nikon Super Coolscan 8000 ED (phone
800-986-2305). Their on-line catalog price is still $2989.
PC Connection's hard-copy catalog continues to price the Polaroid's
SprintScan 120/Plus at $2795/$3249.
I recall that the Polaroid 120 was originally announced at $4000 but after
Nikon announced theirs for $3000, Polaroid dropped the price of the 120 to
match Nikon's.
I love the idea of a price war that could benefit all film-scanner users.
How low can they go?
