I had that same
issue. They are supposed to be coming out with new carriers
sometime. I could not wait. I sent mine back and got another 8000
that works perfectly and I get to scan 2-4 as well as the first one
;-)

This has been brought up before, but I don't
rememberr a solution. There probably wasn't one. When I put a
strip of 5 Pentax 645 negatives in the carrier, the only one that can be
scanned is the first one.
