I had the same error with similar synptoms and the scanner "died" (no answer
when pressing the power button) a little later. It was replaced by the
reseller in my country after a hard and long war. My second 4000t works OK,
but the power button doesn't work since the second day of usage. I am happy
that it is always on, so I can power on and off in the outlet. I am very
suspicious about Microtek's quality control, so I will keep this one and if
it will have a bigger problem I think that I will purchase a scanner from
another brand.
If I were you I would follow Microtek's advice and return the defective
scanner. Good luck with your problem.

Subject: filmscanners: Microtek ArtixScan 4000T - fault
| Hi there all
|
| I purchased a Microtek ArtixScan 4000T in April 2001. I've only started
using
| it seriously over the past week. A fault has occured when scanning slides.
| Prescan goes ok then when i set it to do the hi-res scans I get a "Code:
| -710, APS holder bump error. Missaligned" (under Windows 98SE using
Microtek
| ScanWizard Pro TX) which then aborts the scanning. It usually happens
around
| the 3rd slide. On the scans that i do get, the positioning is incorrect
with
| a black line down the left and a bit missing off the right even though it
was
| ok in preview.
|
| Microtek told me to send it back to them. Anyone else experienced this
| problem? Any quick fixes?!
|
| BTW i can't find the web address for the archive anywhere
|
| Many thanks
|
| Tony
