It's hard to make precise recommendations without a ballpark budget, but
AFAICS
go for the fastest processor, the most RAM and the fastest hard drives you
can
afford.  Fast hard drives or RAID will save you a lot of sitting around
waiting for
50+MB files to load and save.  Lots of RAM helps with editing as does the
CPU
speed.  Win2K should give you a more stable platform with better memory
management
than Win9x or ME.  Make sure all the hardware you propose to use has drivers
for
the OS though.
