[filmscanners] Re: Posts concerning Canon D2400U?
Alessandro,
Thanks for the encouragement! I will post news as it evolves.
My website is not yet developed but should be in 2 weeks.
Printing is to Epson 1290.
Re Epson 2450 - I have nothing aginst it but I could not find one for
sale yesterday (Sunday) and it does not have the infrared channel that
the Canon has.
I had already downloaded the Canon spec and manuals (PDFs on USA site
only) and read all the reviews I could find. Nobody had a bad word to
say about it apart from speed freaks complaining that USB 1.1 was not
so fast. Max file size is 260MB which Canon claim is a Windows
limitation(?).

Definitely yes! A comparison with the Epson 2450 or with any
filmscanner in
the 2700dpi range would be most interesting.
The fact that it is not (yet) supported by Vuescan is a clear minus,
but I
think that Ed will soon take care of this.

Hi all,
I have failed to save enough money to buy a medium format film
scanner. As a result yesterday I bought a Canon D2400U 2400dpi, 6 ccd
line, flatbed scanner which has a cold cathode film head and masks to
4x5".
This post asks whether further posts from me would be welcomed
considering:
(a) The Canon is not capable of approaching the image quality of
dedicated film scanners.
(b) There is no Silverfast or Vuescan products yet for this scanner.
regards,
Ian
