[filmscanners] Re: Where can I actually *buy* an Nikon8000ED?

I don't what bias the other person has or has not, Moreno. I do know that
in the couple of months I've subscribed to this list there have been untold
numbers of complaints voiced re problems with the Nikon in question. In
that same period there has been no such outcry regarding equipment from
other manufacturers, and not everyone on this list receives complimentary
gear to play with so that argument strikes me as a ruse.
If you want to talk about bias, what I've heard suggests that there are
people are there buying Nikons _in spite of_ these issues solely for the
reason they wish to associate themselves with the Nikon brand. That, and
the fact that with the Nikon you can also get ICE packaged.
For what it's worth I own the Polaroid SS4000 and have had no issues with
it whatsoever other than the cheap quality/dubious design (make that very
dubious) of its film holders, especially the negative film holder. Having
revealed that, based on what I've read on this list my opinion of Nikon
(the company) has dropped while my opinion of Polaroid (the company) has
taken a jump up. Not because I now own a Polaroid but because of the way I
perceive these companies and their respective quality-control and
after-market support divisions, this based primarily on my second-hand
gleanings from this list, partially on my personal experience with Polaroid
support.
That's this consumer's take.
