David,
Can I just say publically 'thanks' on behalf of the list, for your
enlightened participation and help here over the past few years.
There aren't many manufacturers who have any inkling how much the world has
changed because of the internet. 'Customer relations' is now a mandatory,
open dialogue. Old-world denial, bullshit and evasion is now utterly
counterproductive, no matter how big the marketing budget, because
customers have the means to talk to each other.
I rather suspect that had you not understood and practiced this
enlightened approach, Polaroid would have remained a player on the
margins, no matter how good their scanners. This was the situation
throughout the 35Plus vs LS1000 era, when marketing perceptions mattered
more than realities and the 35Plus suffered accordingly.
I really hope Polaroid appreciate that through helping their customers you
have helped Polaroid become a credible choice in filmscanners. Time and
again on this list, potential buyers have listed your availability here as
a major factor in their decision. I hope Polaroid are giving you a very big
cheque, but also that they understand enough of what you've done to get
someone else to carry on doing likewise.
Best wishes and stay in touch.
