The problem is into CMS engine (ColorSync on Mac and ICM on Windows). The
LS2000 profile is a very complex one and the CMS engines find great
difficulty to manage it. I built a custom profile that can be used as
intermediate profile from LS2000 profile to a standard profile (Adobe, sRGB,
...). It almost eliminate the problem. The profile is essentially a Adobe
profile in gamma 1.0. Because the LS2000 profile is in gamma 1.0 as well, is
easier for the CMS to make the transformation. In this way you obtain scans
with shadows much more opened and less affected by banding in smooth areas,
and with unchanged middletones and highlights saturation and luminance.
