It is more the other way around. Microtek makes the SS4000 and SS4000+
for Polaroid, and they are basically the same scanner with different
firmware and software.
The Artixscan 4000f was available some months after the Polaroid SS4000.
Same for the SS4000+ and Artixscan 4000tf. Polaroid has decided not to
market the SS4000+ in Europe, probably due to their current evolution as
a result of the Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and buy out of certain
divisions. I believe Polaroid and Microtek have/had a deal with one
another that Microtek would delay introducing their version of the
scanner for several months to give Polaroid a chance to market theirs
first, but since the SS4000+ has been out for about 3 months now, and it
is not going to be introduced in Europe, it makes sense that the
Artixscan 400tf would be made available now. Also, that might explain
the drop in price of the Polaroid SS4000 until it is sold out.
