It has been that for a while, though some dealers still seem to be
advertising the original launch price of ~£1800GBP. I saw an ad like this
just last month.

1GBP=$1.46USD according to the financial markets...
*but* we usually end up paying much the same price for most consumer goods,
ie if a gizmo costs $299USD it'll usually be £299GBP by the time shipping,
import duty, VAT (tax) and piggies in the food chain have had their cut.
Not for nothing is this called 'Rip Off Britain'.
