Simon,
I'm between scanners at the moment but did have an Elite. It went back as it
had CCD problems - some pixels in the green channel were not calibrated
properly so produced green lines in the very deep shadows which marred the
shadow detail. As I paid £730 for mine, I wasn't prepared to accept this.
However, for slides which are not too dense and for negs, these problems were
not too noticeable. Generally, it is a very good scanner, on a par with the
Nikon LS2000, and there are other list members who have had no problems at all.
Its fast, fairly sharp, has relatively low noise (even without using
multiscanning) and has good shadow detail. If these are new units with a full
warranty, I'd say £250 is a very good price.
If you have any specific questions, let me know.
