[filmscanners] Re: Any opinions on Nikon Coolscan 3 LS-30?
It was my first film scanner, and it is excellent. A bit obsolete now
compared to later models, but it will still give you stunning results--if
you've never used a film scanner before, you'll be flabbergasted by the
additional contrast and detail and color that you get when you scan film
directly, instead of depending on prints. It was the LS-30, in fact, that
brought me back to film from my brief adventure with digital ... when I saw
how good film could really look, digital paled in comparison.
My LS-30 is still in service, too--I currently have it loaned to a
photographer friend. I've since switched to an LS-2000, and now to an
LS-8000ED (for MF, mainly).

Subject: [filmscanners] Any opinions on Nikon Coolscan 3 LS-30?
I'm thinking of buying one of these secondhand. This would be my first
film scanner. What would be the maximum price I should pay for one and
what is the quality like?
Thanks
Julian
