It depends on what area you are talking about. A LOT of EDA (Electronic
Design and Automation) tools are not available on the Mac. EDA tools are
typically highly graphics oriented applications, just not for imaging.
Since I am a electrical and mechanical engineer, and there are many
thousands of engineers who use EDA tools, you will find almost no Macs are
used in an engineering environment. Is AutoCAD available for the Mac? I
believe most engineering tools, are simply not available on the Mac. There
are some not so well known EDA tools available for the Mac, but hardly
mainstream, even in the EDA industry.
