[filmscanners] RE: Get a Mac...Digital Darkroom Computer



Not to belabor this (well, yes to belabor it); I don't know one way or
another.  I just question these sorts of quasi-scientific and
psuedo-empirical assertions as grounds for legitimizing an opinion.  But you
comment does raise another question to which I do not have any answer of my
own; the question is: are Power Macs really Macs in the sense that they are
the same as the Macs that people have based their claims on regarding
graphics or are they hybids in a category of their own separate from either
the older Mac systems or the Wintel systems?

It probably is (still) true that a majority of people using graphics
professionally do use Macs. At least, in my experience of UK publishers,
design studios etc. I'd estimate about 60:40 Mac:PC. Mind you, half of them
are Power Macs with massive screen burn and fade.
