The 1280 has a nice "roll paper" feature that lets you feed a variety of
paper formats. A new 1280 comes with a sample roll of Photo Glossy 4" wide
(perfect for 4x6 prints). Longevity of 1280 prints on Epson Matte is
supposed to be around 25yrs - comparable to many pigment based printers
(though not the 2200). The downside of the 1280 over the 2200 is that the
color inks in the 1280 are a single pack - so while as a package they are
cheaper, you have to replace the whole color cartridge even though you still
have ink left in most of the color columns - but the black is separate so
your usage shouldn't be a problem.

It gets used every day for black text, and about once a week on
weekends when I have time I usually do 6-10 color prints, mixture of
4x6 and 8x10s.
