That's true when you're rebooting too. In my impatience, I have a couple
of times turned the SS4000 on then quickly rebooted before it was done
going through its startup. Result: the device isn't recognized after the
reboot finishes. I now wait until it stops grinding around before
rebooting. Of course yesterday I discovered that with my new XP install,
I can get the OS to recognized it when it wasn't on during a reboot.
