Could you try placing a slide in each compartment and allow it to sit
for some hours or overnight and see if the plastic springs survive
without cracking?
As you likely know, there were a group of the SS4000-SS4000+ slide
carriers produced which were defective. It was likely cold molding or
contamination with release agent, or whatever, but the problem is that
the spring clips can and did fail on one production run. Why this guy
(who lives in Mass, where Polaroid in located) has all these carriers,
when Polaroid has had shortages, would make an interesting question...
He's been selling theses for a while now...
