I recently lost data on 20 out of 50 Silver CD's I bought cheap. Having said
that, a friend of mine who paid top dollar for gold CD's, opened his A4 size
CD wallet the other day, only to find that on 50% of the discs, areas of the
gold layer had stuck to the clear plastic sleeve.
Personally, I now have 4 120gig external Firewire drives, at £120 a unit,
they are well worth it.
