[filmscanners] RE: Focusing on SS4000
I have one of the pre-pay-again versions of Vuescan 7.5.41.
Do you have one of the newer versions? Are the scans any sharper?
If so, is it worth upgrading from what I have now?

I use VueScan and have the 'auto focus' set to 'always' so that it focuses
for the preview and scan.

I use the SS4000 primarily with Polacolor Insight sortware.
I thought you could scan a slide initially then deselect the option to
enable focus on final scan for subsequent scans. When I do that, my
subsequent scans were noticeably soft and that improved after rescanning
with the enable focus box checked.
Does anyone have words of wisdom about this focus setting?
