[filmscanners] RE: Vuescan and Digicams

Vuescan will "scan" -- at least from a compact flash card.
I can put a CF card in a reader, set Vuescan to "scan from
file" (having it go to the "G" drive, which is how the card
reader is designated on my machine) and preview or scan
images from the card.  The mode is set for transparency and
the film type as slides. I don't know if it will read "raw"
files, since my camera produces jpegs or tifs.   

I imagine I could hook my Minolta S414 up to the computer
with its USB cable and do the same thing.  Minolta provides
a neat little image management program or I can simply move
files to the hard drive using WinXP, then manipulate them in
Paint Shop, so Vuescan gets reserved for the scanners.

Click on "scan mode" and scroll down to the very last entry
-- it reads Fuji S2, which I presume is a reference to the
camera.

Vuescan has the capability to 'scan' from a disk file.  You
would either
copy the RAW images onto your HD and read them in from
there, or get
Vuescan to read the RAW images directly off the camera
(assuming it has
been mounted), processes them and save the resulting image.
