[filmscanners] Re: About cleansing

Hello Guido

I have been using an ultrasonic cleaner to clean slides. I remove the film
from the mount. Kodak recommends adding a teaspoon of ammonia to a cup of
denatured alcohol. It works very well. It also removes the protective
lacquer found on pre-1957 Kodachrome. Two minute maximum time. More info
in the 1971 Kodak publication "Kodak Color Films"

I have found that film cleaners that are applied with a tissue will result
in many tiny scratches.

My air compressor is a medical unit for breathing, i got it at a used goods
store. Because it is medical, the pistons are oil-free.
