[filmscanners] RE: the histogram in Nikonscan



I don't set the output black point above 0, because I prefer to have true
black in my pictures.

By default when Nikon Scan scans a negative it sets the output black point
to about 20.  I find this annoying.  I have a Luminosity curve permanently
setup within NS to correct this - basically it's like setting the input
black point to 0 and the gamma to 1.15.  Roughly speaking... (the curve
doesn't have a sharp corner in it which is what you get if you set the black
point to 0 - I find this helps shadow detail avoid posterisation if I want
to perform further work in PS).
