Since everyone knows that what really keeps a list active is a good bit of
controversy,  I will take responsibility for the list having fallen to its
depths by not posting for a long while ;-)

However, fear not, I have seen the error of my ways, and I'm back to stir up
a new ill wind ;-)

I just received a Freestyle Photographic Supplies catalogue a few days ago,
and although I'm not buying much in the way of darkroom supplies these days,
I did see a quite interesting "peripheral" in the digital scanner section,
which seems to vindicate my longstanding issues with Nikon film scanners.

I am going to provide the text of the ad as it was written:

Oh, I forgot, the Nikon 8000 doesn't HAVE any problems with grain and dust
exaggeration, or edge to center sharpness...  the person who came up with
this product must be just as delusional as I am! He just thinks he can
charge $500++ for a totally unnecessary device.
