[filmscanners] RE: Nikon scanner availability

Let me throw in my 2-cents worth, here. I think scanners of many types will
be around for some time to come. It does appear to be true that many
silver-based B&W negative films are being phased out, along with the papers
to print them. Transparency film will rule the commercial roost for a long
time, just as it does now. Good consumer and high-resolution commercial
scanners will be around a long time. Until we see digital cameras with the
resolution of a 4x5 Leaf digital back, I don't think that film is dead, but
I fear that traditional B&W photography/printing is in for a rough go.
