[filmscanners] Re: Nikon scanner availability

FWIW, last year, my bro' got married and both the wedding
photogs were using Nikon F90's (don't know if that was a
coincidence or not). So film's alive and cooking.

I went crazy. Shot color with a D70, 24/2.8 (mostly) and 50/1.8,
and an SB800 on a Stroboframe bracket. Just kept it in P mode
with a -.3 (IIRC) flash comp.

Shot B&W with an FM3a and 105/2.8 AIS - also using the same
flash and bracket - mostly just head shots of the attending
relatives, particularly the aging ones, oh and the pretty ones :-)

Shot B&W with a Leica M6TTL and a Voigtlander 35/2.5 P with
a Leica SF24 on camera flash. The RF focusing was great using
this moderate wide in low lighting, spot on. The D70+24/2.8 combo
was pretty good, but I got alot more focus misses with the AF.

Whew! That was a workout :-) I have serious chronic fatigue
immune deficiency syndrome, and I sacked on the couch after
that wedding for a week or more. Took me more than a month
to get all the pics souped and scanned (for the film), editted,
spotted, doctored (digi and film) in the computer, and finally
put up on the web.

Anyway, while I didn't take formals or anything, my bro said
my pics were better. One of the first photo complements I'd
ever received.

The B&W shots seemed to really delight the family - it's just
a look everyone knows so well and enjoys, but is so absent
in the "family pic" sphere these days.

Luck had something to do with it. I just went to another fam
event and was the only photog - and well, I was disappointed
with my performance in the end. Should have shot alot more
film. But screw 'em, I was pretty damn sick :-)

Go film!!!! It's all good.
