Someone recently asked if there were any Imacon scanners available for rent
in the New York area. I did a Google search and found one - and only one so
far. At a place called Print Space, at 151 West 19th Street in Manhattan,
you can rent an Imacon by the hour. They also have a 30 inch Chromira
digital C printer and several complete wet darkrooms available. It happens
that I once used one of their darkrooms back when I was experimenting with
ways of producing silver gelatin prints from digital files. Since then, they
have gone digital too but they still offer wet darkrooms for rent by the
hour. Nice clean place and friendly people back then. No idea about rates
or quality now. They're at darkroom@printspacenyc.com.
