filmscanners: Win 2000 and Canoscan fs2710 SCSI problems

I had ME and 2000 on a dual boot and I was able to get my scanner to work in 
2000 with much screwing around.

I have migrated to just 2000 and now I am unable for the life of me to get 
it to work. I have the correct SCSI drivers and the newest software from the 
Canon Site and followed instructions to the tee for installing in 2000 but 
nothing. When I install the software I get the make sure device is turned on 
bla bla bla, of course it is.

I could really use some help.
