I doubt this is anything to do with Wiziwyg, but is probably indicative of 
the profiles needing to apply corrections to the data which are large 
enough to reveal the shortcomings of the scanner hardware. I have seen 
similar when trying to get better results by tweaking manually, on a couple 
of other models of scanner. Really a better scanner is the only solution 
if that's the problem. However!....

Yes I would expect you should ideally set B&W points. If you don't that 
might account for the faults you are seeing above, as the profile is having 
to expand the wanted range from the whole, unclipped range. Possibly not, 
though, as Velvia is going to be close to, or beyond the ODR available. 
However I don't know the s/w and how it would want you to set B&W points 
anyhow.
