[filmscanners] Tech question on Nikon LS-4500

Hi:

I have been trying to scan 6x9 chromes on an LS 4500 (which I
bought used on ebay for a song) and find that it only makes two
out of the three passes and then considered the scan finished.

Am I doing something wrong here or does the scanner need
service?
