[filmscanners] Scan Dual IV vs Elite

I am getting PS-CS to replace PS 5 LE and Elements.

To support PS-CS, I am moving from Mac OS 9.1 to OS 10.3. I have also
decided to replace my Mac G4 with a G5.

I have been using a Minolta Scan Dual II, which does not support OS 10, so I
am considering the Scan Dual IV.

The SD-IV has sufficient resolution to get a 13x19" print from a 35mm neg at
240 ppi at that scale.

My question is: Do you think it is worthwhile to get the Elite if I am not
planning to print larger than 13x19"? It seems like I have heard of grain
aliasing issues, or somesuch. I am printing at 1440 dpi on watercolor paper
with an Epson 2200.

Also, I don't think 35mm negs can generally be enlarged more than that, even
directly from the film in a darkroom, although I have printed them at 16x20
on a couple of occasions where it worked--sort of okay--given the project.

So I am wondering what are your perceptions, for those who have opted for
the Elite? And what size/style/film are you printing where you think it is
worthwhile to have the extra scanning resolution? In short, is the Elite
worth it?

Thanks,

Berry
